This has not been a terribly productive month for journal keeping on my part. Between the hectic days of work, visiting family over March Break and recuperating from the killer death flu, I've had little time to jot thoughts down on this virtual paper. I know, your standard journalist's disclaimer.
There's Something About Mary - We broke down and ordered Viewer's Choice last night to watch this movie. I don't know if it was the over-hyping of the film, the seeing all the highlights in clip shows over the past year, or the simple fact that it was nowhere near as good as everyone made it out to be; we didn't find it that funny at all. I only chuckled at a few scenes in total; in fact I came nowhere near a hearty belly laugh at any point. I had a suspicion when I saw it was by the Farrelly brothers - Dumb & Dumber was such a piece of utter crap, their track record alone should have set alarm bells ringing.
There was nothing in the movie that hasn't been done before and with better results by others more talented and humourous. The worse part of it is there's undoubtedly going to be a whole slew of low brow Mary-esque flicks coming out of Hollywood to reap the harvest of that which the Farrellys have sown. Yeehaw...
Well, that's pretty much it for another
low motivation entry. Nothing too witty or provocative, nor anything earth shatteringly
revealing in nature. Nada in the way of sharp political commentary either. I
do have all of the above rattling around in my brain somewhere; they're just
reluctant to manifest themselves for this forum. Some other time soon, perhaps.
