The first thing you will have noticed is the site redesign. .net magazine gave away a free fully operational copy of Dreamweaver 1.2 with their latest issue and I'm playing with the features. Sure, the latest version is up to 3.0 now, but this version is from 1998 and covers everything I really need to know or use when it comes to html-esque affairs. I'm bound to make a number of errors during this whole learning process, and all the old pages are going to require re-formatting, so here's the obligatory disclaimer about things possibly not appearing up to code.
Overnight, Toronto received it's first real snowfall of the winter - not a lot on the ground, just a few cm., but enough to remind me of the general ineptitude of the drivers in this city. I swear I'm the only person in the greater Toronto area who knows how to drive on snow covered roads. No wonder people we know who live in more wintery climes always point and laugh at Toronto when all heck breaks loose here. Never mind the fact that we go and screw up the water table by throwing tons of rock salt onto the roads when a solitary flurry is rumoured to be in the air. This place is ree-dick-ul-ous.
Mom called the other week and relayed a message from my sister regarding Dad. Apparently he is home from the hospital now. We'll drive up to Ottawa next weekend and pay him a visit. His doctors were able to make him as comfortable as possible, but have confirmed that the asbestosis-based lung cancer has returned and that there is nothing that can be done to remedy the situation. They say it's a matter of months now until the inevitable occurs, so we had better get our visits in soon.
Such fun, life's lessons can be...
