Here at the school where I work, we've had an open lab policy, where students can work in the computer facilities without staff supervision. For the most part over the years this policy has worked well. Last night, after most of the students and staff had left for the day, a few students stayed late in the main computer lab under the pretense of doing work.

They decided instead that jelloing a $3000 computer would be much more productive. Yes, as in "there's always room for..." In this case, there's room on the motherboard, in the cdrom drive, behind the hard drive, etc.

I can't begin to understand the thinking behind this. What purpose does this serve, apart from self-stroking these twats' egos? Being teenage boys, they haven't yet acquired the wisdom and knowledge that they will be found out and summarily punished. I mean, I've done some stupid things in my time, but nothing intentionally destructive or willfully malicious.

Speaking of stupid things, check out the recent forum activity over at Squishy. A couple of my, uh, gems are recorded there for posterity. Then there was the time I fell into the Red River in Winnipeg.

Subtle segue time here. Speaking of Pamie (indirectly,) there was a news report last night about Billy Blanks demonstrating Tae-Bo at the Scarborough Town Centre here in Toronto. You know you've been reading too many OLJs when you see a news story and start chuckling about a journaler's entries about same, then getting a strange look from your spouse who hasn't the foggiest notion of what you see as being so hilarious.

Friday afternoon, and work is winding down for the week. It was the first week back to school for all the ruggus rattici and staff; they were moderately overwhelming. I decidely prefer it when there's no one about the place - gives me a decent chance to get some work done.

I haven't forgotten about finishing my story of our trip to St. Kitts. I've noticed I have a tendency to start multi-part stories in this and then never finish them. Fear not, I'll get to it in due course.

Have a dandy weekend all. I'll be back in my office tomorrow, working on file servers. Joy. Bliss.
