Jeepers, you'd think we would have seen it all, having a cat with cancer in Finnegan. The feline gods have thrown us another curve ball with big old Sam - he has diabetes. We dropped him off at the vet this morning before work. It didn't take them long to draw some blood and find out that his blood sugar level is at 25. The normal level for Sam should be 5 to 7. Needless to say, the Bamboo won't be coming home from the vet until they get that down to normal levels. Once he is home, we'll be giving him twice daily insulin needles for the rest of his life. Yeehaw! The fortunate thing is that diabetes is a very controllable disease these days. With proper care, Sam can still live a long healthy life after we get him stabilized. Hell, he's made it to 12 already, despite having problems with his poop chute over the years. (One of his anal glands had recurring problems which would cause him no end of grief. Knock on wood that's been cured for a few years now.) (No end of grief. Ha! I funny.)

No work next week! I can hardly wait to be slothful. (Oh yeah, and that birthday thing.)

Ok, I'm off to check out kitty diabetes websites.
