Soft and sweet as memory

soft and sweet as memory
like new buds upon a tree
that weave their texture into spring
while echoes of autumn leaves still ring

like the loam that feeds the root
and the tendrils that off shoot
to welcome the dawning sun anew
scented by the morning dew

these are the forests of my heart
each leaf, each branch, each trunk a part
of all directions my life has faced
and every choice I have embraced

there is a glade within the stand
where calm and quiet are at hand
you are there as one with me
soft and sweet as memory
